These bustling noodles and dumpling shops, run by the Chang family of Genghis Khan Mongolian Barbecue fame, are some of the coolest restaraunts in Kansas City dining. Step through the brightly colored doors and into a warm, hip scene. The long, high-ceilinged rooms with big windows are set off with sponged blue walls trimmed in bright yellow and red. Patrons can view the activity of the busy staff preparing the fresh, imaginative dishes in the open kitchen at the back of the restaurant.
Opened in early 2002, Blue Koi Midtown quickly developed a loyal following. Named the “Best Ethnic Restaurant 2003” by Ingram's Magazine, the Blue Koi has pleased patrons with innovative dishes such as Ants on a Tree, a colorful dish of cellophane noodles tossed with delicately spiced ground pork and bits of cabbage and chopped carrots or a variety of plump Northern Chinese dumplings.
Opened in 2007, Blue Koi Leawood continues the tradition set out by Blue Koi Midtown. With the large bar, dining room, and wonderful patio Blue Koi Leawood is a perfect spot for a night on the town.
A Blue Koi trademark is their many-flavored Bubble Tea, a unique blend of ice, nondairy milk, tea and tapioca pearls which the restaurant first introduced to Kansas City. A fine selection of loose-leaf Chinese teas and a full bar are also offered to complement your meal.
Blue Koi accepts artwork submissions throughout the year. Come display your artwork in one of Kansas City’s favorite restaurants and get your artwork noticed. From the most accomplished artist to those just starting out, Blue Koi is the perfect gallery for attracting attention!
